Specific Location Information
This position will report to Fort Smallwood Shops location in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

This role can be filled at Level I II III
 
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The position will be within the Shop department and is responsible for performing all types of weld fabrication and repair on power plant equipment.  The Shop team supports a culture of continuous improvement by participating in training, reinforcing standards, reporting, and mitigating unsafe or undesirable conditions, and utilizing the corrective action program. This position requires approximately 20% travel to support field work across the fleet during plant outages.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Perform high quality structural welding to AWS D1.1 and ASME Section IX pipe welding
  • Operate Shop equipment such as hi-definition plasma table, press brake, shear, plate roller, etc.
  • Perform maintenance and repair work on plant equipment as required
  • Perform assigned tasks in a safe and efficient manner at the direction of Maintenance Management.
  • Execute work package when assigned to the level of training received.
  • Ability to work on cross-functional teams on major projects while adhering to the conduct of maintenance and established maintenance standards and practices
  • Use, review and recommend revisions to procedures, prints, technical manuals, and other documents as required to the level of training received
  • Provide technical support to plant operations, maintenance staff and engineering to the level of training received
  • Interpret and understand power plant prints
  • Perform verification checks on maintenance items covered in maintenance technician training.


JOB SCOPE

Position reports to Maintenance Foreman. The incumbent in this position must be able to communicate across all levels of the organization. Knowledge of plant equipment functions including safety rules and rigging, construction and maintenance practices. Demonstrated ability to analyze complex mechanical problems and make repairs. Safety Consciousness, Contributing to Team Success, Technical/Professional Knowledge, Work Standards and Communication.

Expected salary range of $31.65- $51.21 per hour, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401k.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for Maintenance Technician I

Associates Degree in Power Plant Technology, Engineering Technology, or Electronics OR • HS Diploma with minimum of 12 - 18 months of trade or technical experience in Power Plant Technology or relevant field experience

Successfully complete the training requirements and time in job requirements for the position including previously passing the MASS test

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for Maintenance Technician II

Associates Degree in Power Plant Technology, Engineering Technology, or Electronics with minimum of 18 months of trade or technical training in Power Plant Technology OR • 3 – 5 years’ experience in Maintenance Tech I or equivalent years of experience with trade or technical training in Power Plant Technology or relevant field experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for Maintenance Technician III

Associate degree in Power Plant Technology, Engineering Technology, or Electronics with minimum of 3 years of trade or technical training in Power Plant Technology OR

• 5 years’ experience in Maintenance Tech II or equivalent years of experience with trade or technical training in Power Plant Technology or relevant field experience. Previous Foreman or supervisory experience

• Previous trade union experience (millwright or pipefitting)

• Welding qualifications

• Machinist experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for Maintenance Technician I, II & III

Successfully complete the training requirements and time in job requirements for the position including previously passing the MASS test

• Acquire and maintain unescorted access to Nuclear facilities

• Valid driver's license and access to an insured vehicle

• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

• Ability to work in a power plant environment that includes climbing and walking long distances

• Exposed to heat with reduced stay times, dust, smoke, dirt, high noise areas, confined and cramped work areas, and a nuclear power plant environment including Radiation Dose Exposure.

• Works at high elevations on ladders and scaffolds.

• Works shift work or weekends as required

 • Perform tasks inside radiological controlled areas.

• Maintains nuclear qualifications IAW EIS Specific training program.

• Maintain Radiation Protection Qualification and training, including respirator qualifications

• Ability to obtain unescorted nuclear plant access

• Basic computer skills

• Good oral and written communication skills

• This position regularly requires > 80% travel within the nuclear plants

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Maintenance Technician I & II

  • Previous trade union experience (millwright or pipefitting)
  •  Welding qualifications
  • Machinist experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Maintenance Technician III

  • Previous Foreman or supervisory experience

Hourly positions starting from $31.65/ hour.
