SALARY

Expected salary range of $124,200 to $138,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).

LOCATION

This position offers remote flexibility and requires up to 25% travel (anticipated 1-time per month). Our ideal candidate will live within commutable distance to one of our office locations, to participate in occasional in-office meetings and collaboration as requested, but we are open to a fully remote setup for well qualified individuals who live in other locations. Office locations include Baltimore, MD; Houston, TX; Chicago, IL; & Boston, MA. 

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Manager position reporting to the Director of Technology Strategy, Grants and Partnerships. This role be responsible for supporting emerging technology collaborations through engagements with the external ecosystem that includes national labs, universities and government agencies. The position will lead the development and execution of the research and development strategy. The position will also support the execution of the grant strategy and the development and execution of the technology vision for the organization as part of the Corporate Strategy team.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Strategic partner engagement to support emerging technology collaborations between Constellation and the external innovation ecosystem. ? Maintain strategic partnerships with the national labs, universities and other strategic partners. ? Leverage these partnerships to enhance our technology, R&D and grant strategy. ? Engage the organization to ensure we derive value from these partnerships through learnings, conferences and workshops, and IP. (20%)
  • Manage and develop research and development portfolio and execution ? Develop the research, development and deployment (RD&D) strategy for the company and manage the tracking and execution of the strategy ? Manage ongoing R&D project investments to extract value ? Track the legal and regulatory timelines and obligations for every project investment to ensure value realization (50%)
  • Support the execution of the grant strategy (15%)
  • Support the effort to cascade the technology strategy down through the organization ? Support leadership discussions on technology strategy, R&D and grants. (15%)

JOB SCOPE

  • Reports to Director of Technology Strategy, Grants and Partnerships.
  • Takes direction from VP, Directors and/or project team leads.
  • Leads cross-functional project teams.
  • Interacts regularly with key managers and executives across the company.
  • Provides regular written/oral presentations to key managers and executives on analysis of various issues.
  • Able to travel across Exelon sites and business units as required (up to 25%).

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science or Quantitative fields
  • Strong knowledge of Research and Development space
  • Clean energy related research experience on master’s or Ph.D. level, strongly preferred
  • Excellent analytical skills, including quantitative and qualitative analytics and ability to provide quality control on analysis developed by others.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply strategic and critical thinking to problem solving.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with individuals at senior levels in the company and works with and lead productive teams with
  • diverse membership.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with emerging ability to write from senior management perspective.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive assigned projects to completion.
  • Ability to take senior management perspective on key issues.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree in engineering, business, public policy, economics or other related field, strongly preferred
  • Clean energy related research experience on master’s or Ph.D. level, strongly preferred
  • Experience with leading research universities, national laboratories ( such as ARGONNE & Idaho National Lab ), and DOE funding agencies,
  • strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of energy industry
  • Comfort in leading and managing a portfolio of clean energy research portfolio
  • Internal and external stakeholder and partner relationship engagement
  • Ability to socialize, execute and manage project ideas
  • Ability to manage cross functional teams
